Formats and Consumption
by Paul Bliss on Mar.06, 2009, under Formats and Consumption

When it comes to music, we all have our own tastes. While most of us will tend to have a few genres that we really like, almost all of us can find music from other styles that might not be considered ‘normal’.
To this point, when you create music to be placed on the web, keep in mind that it has the potential to reach ANYONE on the planet. The grandmother across the street to Bill Gates to LeBron James – and each individual could like what you made.
But, what if you only created your file in mp3 format? How many ipod users would know what to do to get your song onto their ipods? So, that means you must also create the itunes formatted version as well (.aac).
The point to all of this is that we all consume content in different ways. If you want to be found on the web, you MUST cater to what your users want, and you need to make it as easy as possible – we all are crunched for time and anything that makes our life easier will always leave a positive impression.
